ANSWER:

Quick Answer - The school district is not the Village, and cannot base their funding decisions on what the Village may or may not do in the future.

With that said, at the 3/12/2024 Village Council meeting the Village discussed with the public the misunderstanding that they were going to raise taxes. The Village clarified this misunderstanding noting clearly that they are NOT going to raise taxes. The entire discussion is available for public view at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8UY14OfEWo.

Long Answer - Even though the Village clearly noted they were not intending to raise taxes, they went further to help clarify previously approved legislation in 2023 by the Village which was misunderstood.  A resident spoke asking questions about legislation and their belief that it allowed the Village Manager to raise taxes up to 1% without voter approval.  After a brief discussion, Village Council made it clear they did not have the power to raise taxes beyond the existing 1% without voter approval.  They also noted that they didn't intend to raise taxes, nor have stated that ever.

The resident who brought up the questions noted that they were "glad they stand corrected and just wanted to understand that (topic)".
